Home network will let me access any site/IRC server but DSP

Post by Nanoko » Sat May 04, 2013 3:17 pm

Yeah, that's pretty much the gist of it. What did I manage to fuck up that will let me connect to any website or IRC server but drshnaps? irc.biolizard.net doesn't work for me either. I'm posting from a proxy right now, which mysteriously works, but yeah, I don't know what I've done. I'm pretty sure it's not malware, as the last thing I installed was turbotax a few months ago, and it doesn't seem to be my firewall settings either. Any ideas?

I'll be on IRC tonight since I'll be using my laptop/work connection.

We had to change servers in a kinda forced way, so DNS probably just didn't propagate for you. Try connecting to the actual IP directly for a while: /server 5.9.130.145

OR, maybe you have an old version of Hamachi that's causing troubles. Uninstall it.

Hamachi? Interesting, I'll try that when I get home. Connecting directly to the IP didn't provide any positive results (for IRC, didn't try with the forum), however.

Amazingly enough, that did it. Care to explain how hamachi was interfering?

Hamachi would set its internal networking to IPs in the 5.* range. Since the new server's IP is 5.9.130.145, Hamachi would attempt to connect to a machine on its network, but since drshnaps.com isn't on Hamachi, the connection would fail.

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place (and holy crap this forum is inactive), but how would I connect to the mIRC chat? I already have the program and know how to use it I'm just not sure of the servers name or i.d. or whatever. I was aware that there was a way to access it through the forums, but it doesn't seem like there is anymore.

I'd just like to chat with whoever's still around, if anyone even is. :/

Believe it or not, the IRC is actually still pretty active. Feel free to hang out with us on #drshnaps, and there's a more RP-oriented community in #the-crossing-daggers.
